Amanda Edwards Nickel

August 30, 1981 — December 4, 2021

Amanda Dawn Edwards Nickel, 40, went to eternity with her heavenly Father on December 4, 2021.

Amanda was born August 30, 1981 in West Palm Beach, Florida to Sandra Durand Parker Edwards Koch of Mooresville, NC and David Carl Edwards of Fairfax, VA.

Amanda is survived by her husband Robert K. Nickel, mother Sandra Durand Koch, father David Carl Edwards, brother Michael David Edwards, step-father Tom Koch, step-brother and step- sister Rob and Angela Koch, step-grandmother Frances Parker and paternal grandmother Kay Phillips.  She is also survived by aunts, uncles and cousins.

She is predeceased by her maternal grandmother Peggy Shumaker, ‘Pop Pop’ Billy Gene Parker, Sr., step-grandfather Kenneth Shumaker, and paternal step-grandfather Frank Carpenter.

Amanda graduated from Mooresville High School, NC class of 2000.  She attended Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, NC and subsequently earned a 2-year Certificate of Radiography from the University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill.  She thoroughly enjoyed her career as an x-ray technician.

In 2016 she moved to the North Carolina coastal town of Elizabeth City.  In 2019, she married Rob Nickel from Birmingham, AL.

Amanda enjoyed Jesus, tulips, patchouli, coffee, anything purple, candles, music, movies, and her two cats Monet and Elvira, tacos, Red Bull, the NC Outer Banks, and reading.  She had a heart for the homeless – not only food, but a prayer and a word about Jesus.  She will be painfully missed. 

Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home in Huntersville NC is handling the arrangements for the family.   The memorial service will be held at Grace Covenant Church, 17301 Statesville Rd, Cornelius NC on December 12, 2021 at4:00 p.m.  The family will receive guests at 3:00 p.m.

Flowers may be sent to Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home, 16901 Old Statesville Rd, Huntersville, NC.  Contributions in memory of Amanda may be made to Levine and Dickson Hospice House, 11900 Vanstory Rd, Huntersville, NC 28078.  The family thanks the hospice staff for the gentle and loving care they provided to Amanda through her journey.
