Amy Margaret Hoots née Hilf passed away on July 26, 2022 at the age of 58 after a long and courageous fight with metastatic breast cancer. She is survived by her husband Scott Hoots, her children Gus and Claire Hoots, her sister Martha Hale, brother Matt Hilf, and niece Ellen Hale. She was preceded in death by her brother Andy Hilf and her parents John and ArlisHilf.
Amy moved to Denver, NC in February, 2020 when she and Scott purchased a home in the Trilogy Lake Norman neighborhood. Over the course of the past 40 years Amy lived in North Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, New York, and Ohio before settling into the Denver area. She touched and inspired the lives of hundreds in each place that she lived. In her early professional career Amy was the manager of one of the most successful Domino’s Pizza stores located in High Point, NC and won numerous company awards. She later was in management for several other well-known retail companies in several different states. In 2004 she was the President of the Bollman Bridge Elementary School PTA where she was an inspiration to many parents and students. In 2017 she stopped working in order to help guide Gus and Claire through their final years of high school.
In late 2015 Amy received the diagnosis that would impact her final years as she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She immediately launched into a fight against the disease and in mid-2016 she was pronounced cancer free. However, in late 2017 on her birthday she received the news that she had metastatic breast cancer to her brain, bones, and lungs. During the 5 year battle with MBC she lived her life to the fullest, traveling to several states, as well as Spain and Italy. Ever the optimist, Amy expected to beat MBC. In fact, the night before her death she texted her husband and some friends and said “I feel like things are changing”. She died peacefully the next evening.
