Andy Provost, born on November 11, 1932, peacefully passed away on December 7, 2023. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a respected member of his community. Born in Willimantic, CT, Andy was the son of the late Clarence Provost and Daisy Lennon Provost. In addition to his parents and siblings, he was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Patricia Mellen Provost; and daughter, Wendy Hunsucker. From an early age, he exhibited a curious mind and a strong work ethic. These characteristics would shape his future as a dedicated member of the United States Air Force.
Andy's military service was exemplary. He proudly served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict and actively participated in two wars. His commitment to his country was unwavering, and he earned the respect of his comrades for his bravery and dedication. After leaving the military, Andy embraced civilian life with open arms. He met the love of his life, Patricia Mellen Provost, and they embarked on a timeless journey together. Their bond was unbreakable, and their marriage was a testament to true love. Andy's family meant everything to him. He cherished every moment spent with them and took great pride in being a devoted husband and father.
Andy is survived by his children, Sharon Henning (John), Kevin Loomis (Ronnie Sue), and Valerie Olszyk; grandchildren, Caitlin Hunter (Andy), Sean Henning (Meg), Natasha Loomis (Rich Cush), Daniel Loomis, and Kassidy Olszyk; and great grandchildren, Drew Hunter, Caleb Henning, Kate Henning, and Matteo Loomis.
Outside of his family life, Andy had a passion for service. Whether it was helping his neighbors or lending a helping hand at community events, he always made time to make a positive impact on those around him. His selflessness and kindness inspired all who knew him.
Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial gathering for Andy Provost on January 10, 2024, at Raymer - Kepner in Huntersville, NC from 11:30am - 1:00pm.
Following the gathering, Andy will be laid to rest with military honors at Salisbury National Cemetery in Salisbury, NC. The interment service will take place at 2:00 PM on the same day.
Andy's legacy will live on through the memories and stories shared by his loved ones. He will be remembered as a courageous veteran, a devoted family man, and a kind-hearted soul who made a difference in the lives of others.
