Anton Brunner

d. January 15, 2018

Anton “Tony” Brunner, 77, of Denver, North Carolina, passed away on January 15, 2018 at Olde Knox Commons surrounded by family and after a long, hard fought battle with Lewy Body Dementia. Tony was born in Columbus, Ohio to Anton and Katherine (Theado) Brunner on January 1, 1941.

As a young man, Tony joined The Timken Company where he worked for 38 years. Tony retired in 2002 to spend more time with his family and to volunteer in his community. He was an active member of the Catholic Church and belonged to the Knights of Columbus Council 10389. He could often be found outside of Walmart with his fellow Knights seeking donations to support the education of students with special needs. Tony worked with East Lincoln Christian Ministries delivering Meals on Wheels to those in need. He never wanted anyone to be hungry. He never met a stranger. Tony loved the beach and would travel to his favorite island in the sun as often as possible. He loved animals and cherished his rescue dog, Holly. Tony will be especially remembered for his strong will, stronger work ethic, and strongest love and commitment to his family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Irene, daughter; Marybeth Avery (Jody), son; Michael Brunner (Sara) and four grandchildren; Andrew and Addison Avery, Kerragan and Kennedy Brunner, and his sister Theresa Breech of Columbus, Ohio. Along with his parents, Tony is preceded in death by his daughter, Lynne Ann, and his brother, Edward Brunner.

A Mass of Christian Burial and a memorial gathering will be held at a later date in Ohio.  Memorial donations in honor of Anton may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association 912 Killian Hill Road, SW, Lilburn, GA 30047.
