Arlan Dean Trenter

Arlan “Dean” Trenter, age 89, of Charlotte, NC, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 14, 2025. Born in Canton, Illinois, on January 13, 1936, Dean was the beloved son of the late Ralph and Mildred (Keown) Trenter. Loving husband, father and grandfather.

Dean graduated from Canton Senior High School in 1954, where he excelled as a track athlete and remains the school record holder in the 440-yard dash. He continued his education at Bradley University, earning his degree in Business Administration in 1958.

Dean married Virginia Schrodt on October 11, 1958, beginning a devoted partnership that lasted over six decades. In the late 1960s, Dean moved to the Kansas City, Missouri area and enjoyed a distinguished career in accounting. Over more than 40 years, he contributed his expertise to Certain-Teed, Guy’s Snack Foods, C.J Patterson, and Acoustic Development.

A lifelong church member, Dean was actively involved with University City United Methodist Church in Charlotte, NC, and First Christian Church in North Kansas City, MO. He generously volunteered his time as an elder and participated on the finance council, reflecting his commitment to service and faith. Long-time member of the Alpha Lodge No. 659 in North Kansas City, MO.

Dean was an avid sports fan and a proud, long-term Kansas City Chiefs season ticket holder. He enjoyed traveling, especially cruise vacations, having embarked on more than 20 cruises around the globe. Dean also found joy in playing bridge and spending time with family and friends.

Dean is survived by his loving wife, Virginia; his son, Mark Trenter (Penny); his daughter, Dena Herrin (Dean); and five cherished grandsons: Ryan Trenter (Martinelli), Samuel Trenter, and Charles Trenter Collin Herrin, Logan Herrin (Carol Ann).

A celebration of Dean’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home in Huntersville, NC. Friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance and honor the legacy he leaves behind. Live-stream will be available.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or University City United Methodist Church.
