Audrey C. Bass, a beloved member of his family and community, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on August 29, 1934, Audrey lived a life marked by faith, dedication, love, and service.
A proud Army veteran, he carried his military experience with a sense of honor that resonated throughout his life. His commitment to serving others extended beyond his time in uniform; Audrey had a deep passion for helping people, often taking the time to visit friends at rest homes and hospitals, bringing company and cheer along with sharing the love of Jesus to those in need.
Audrey found joy in many simple pleasures, particularly in tending to his yard. His love for nature and meticulous gardening became a source of pride and a reflection of his nurturing spirit. His hobbies provided him with a sense of purpose and were an extension of his caring nature.
He is survived by his loving daughters, Marsha Bass of Davidson and Wendy Bass Johnson and her husband Mark of Kings Mountain. Audrey's son, Richard Dean Bass, along with his wife Amy of China Grove, also carries on his legacy. Audrey was blessed with six grandchildren, April, Mandy, Brooke, Meghan, Clint, Hunter and eleven great-grandchildren, who brought immeasurable joy to his life and numerous nieces and nephews also hold dear memories of their time together.
Audrey now joins his late father, Willie James Bass, his mother, Cora Buffkin Bass, his beloved wife, Margaret Lou Hyatt Bass, and his son, James Anthony Bass, alongside three brothers and three sisters who have preceded him in death.
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Audrey during the visitation on June 1, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 PM at Westport Baptist Church, located at 2372 Lake Shore Rd S, Denver, NC 28037.
Audrey C. Bass will be remembered for his faith, his unwavering kindness, his devotion to his family, and his dedication to helping others. His memory will shine brightly in the hearts of those he touched throughout his remarkable life.
