With love and gratitude for her life, the family of Camille Capretta Hess announces her peaceful passing at her home in Mooresville, North Carolina, on August 15, 2025. She was 78 years old.
Born on November 14, 1946, in Columbus, Ohio, to Robert and Mary Capretta, Camille was a woman of deep Catholic faith, with unwavering devotion to her family, and a natural gift for encouraging others.
Her professional journey began in radio broadcasting in Columbus, where her presence and gift for communicating became evident. She later transitioned to advertising, working for various fashion retailers and large department stores, before finding her true calling as an executive coach. In this role Camille guided and inspired countless people with her wisdom, clarity, and compassion.
In 1967, Camille met John Hess, and they were married in 1970. For 55 years, they shared a marriage rooted in faith, laughter, and love. Together, they raised four children: Sara (Tim) Hogan, Jonathan (Holly) Hess, Christopher (Karen) Hess, and Benjamin (Kristin) Hess. Camille’s pride and joy extended to her grandchildren—Ryan Hogan (his partner, Sydney Swartz, and their daughter Riley), Abigail Hogan, Emily Hogan, William Hess, Nick Hess, Gemma Hess, and Lucca Hess—who brought her endless happiness.
She is also survived by her beloved siblings: Robert (Carol) Capretta, Philip (Sue) Capretta, Teresa (Jeff) Carpenter, and Martha (Craig) Smith, along with many nieces and nephews who adored their “Aunt Camille.” She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Susan McClellan.
Camille’s life was a reflection of her faith. A devoted Catholic, she found joy in prayer, service, and walking daily with God. She will be remembered for her warmth, her wit, her compassion, and her ability to make each person she met feel seen and valued.
A Vigil will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home in Huntersville, NC.
