Carl J. Bickel, Jr.

Bessie Mae and Carl Jacob Bickel Jr. “Pop” shared 69 years of marriage together, raising three daughters, Debbie, Gail and Connie in their forever home on Owen Boulevard in Charlotte, NC.  That home was the center of the Bickel family where they welcomed seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.  There was never a time where the door was not open to family and friends.

Bessie was born Bessie Mae Clark on June 12, 1931 in Kannapolis, NC.  Carl was born on October 10, 1930 in Oil City, Pennsylvania.  They met while Carl was in the Navy in Virginia Beach, VA.  Carl knew the moment he saw her that he would marry her one day.  That day happened on June 19, 1950.

Bessie left us to go to heaven on September 18^th, 2019 and was joined on November 23^rd, 2019 by her beloved husband.

As a family, we will be celebrating the lives of Bessie and Carl on Saturday November 30, 2019 at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home in Huntersville, NC.   The family will greet loved ones and friends from 2:00pm – 3:00pm with a memorial service to follow.

Memorial Donations may be made in their names to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital, in which Pop always donated to.
