Carole Avery Patrick

Apr 5, 1934 — Nov 3, 2026

Carole Avery Patrick, 92, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2026.

Born in Syracuse, New York, on April 5, 1934, Carole was the daughter of George Francis Avery and Marion Riddler Avery. She grew up in Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Pennsylvania State University. She went on to a career as both a nurse and a teacher, caring for and educating others throughout her working life.

Carole met the love of her life, Donald, through her parents, and their first date was at the Oyster Bar at Grand Central Station in New York City. They were married for nearly 60 years. They lived in Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, and North Carolina, but her heart belonged to Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard.

Carole was happiest outdoors, whether tending her garden, walking, or spending time at the beach. She delighted in sharing in the passions of her grandchildren, from dance and music to cheering them on at their sporting events. She loved playing card games, especially Uno, and was highly competitive, except against her grandchildren, whom she always helped win. Above all, her love for her family was unwavering.

She was predeceased by her husband, Donald Huntley Patrick Sr., in 2016, and by her daughter, Barbara. She is survived by her sons and their spouses, Don (Kim), Doug (Lynn), and Steve (Pam); her son-in-law, Bill Jones; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Her legacy lives on through her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Those who wish to honor her memory are asked, in lieu of flowers, to donate to the charity of their choice. Memorial services will be celebrated privately by her family.
