Caroline Brou Gautier, 79, formerly of Ocean Springs, passed away peacefully, on 6 April 2026, in Huntersville, NC.
Born in Jan 1947 at the new Biloxi Hospital, she spent her early years in Ocean Springs with her family on Martin, then Jackson Avenues. Caroline was devoted to her family and the Mississippi Gulf Coast. A graduate of St. Alphonsus and Sacred Heart catholic schools, she grew up focused on coastal life keeping commercial and recreational boats and fleets operational through the family business, Bel-Bru Marine Mart and Sporting Goods. Later through her business venture, Windsurfing Gulf Coast, she focused on recreational sailing and introduced boardsailing to the area. As her business grew, it evolved into Hot Seasons where in addition to boardsailing, she also helped patrons learn balance and movement through skateboarding by helping many build their dream skateboards.
Caroline’s parents Edward J. Brou, Sr. and Audrey Busbee Brou, brother, Edward J. Brou, Jr., and brother-in-law “JR” Comer preceded her in death. She is survived by her children, Brou Gautier (Nancy), Mercée Gautier Glew (Eric), and Adam Gautier (Lanita) as well as her sisters Valerie Brou (Ocean Springs) and Julie Comer (Jacksonville) and brother, Gregory “Cookie” Brou (Vancleave). She leaves behind a treasured legacy in her grandchildren/step-grandchildren: Joseph, Benjamin, Nathaniel (Sara), Aubrey, and Anthony Gautier along with Madeleine, Rachel, Ethan and Macey Glew, and Jaxon and Gracey Brooks and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Her family will attend Pentecost Sunday mass at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Ocean Springs on Sunday, May 24, then host a celebration of life at the Biloxi Maritime and Seafood Industry Museum from 2:30 until 5:30. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her honor to OS Yacht Club’s non-profit Ocean Springs Sailing Squadron (osss1915@outlook.com).
