Cathy Cameron Sigmon, born on December 11, 1952, was a loving sister, mother, grandmother, and cherished presence in the lives of all who knew her. Cathy’s life was marked by deep devotion to her family, quiet strength, and a heart that always made room for others.
She graduated from Meredith College in Raleigh, NC with a degree is Sociology. Later, she moved to Charlotte, NC and raised Logan and Watts with Dean Sigmon while also working at church-based childcare facilities throughout the Charlotte area. Notably, Good Sheppard Presbyterian Church (Charlotte), Calvary (Charlotte), and the Goddard School (Cornelius).
On February 6, 2001, Cathy was reborn after her battle with alcoholism and lived a life based on helping others achieve sobriety. For several years she donated her time to First Step Rehabilitation Center in Monroe, NC, often bringing cards and candy for each holiday to those in the 28 day substance abuse program. Willing to openly share her experience with others without fear of judgement was important to Cathy. Often she would receive calls from families of friends seeking recovery advice. She later was able to serve as an example to her son who got sober February 2, 2015.
She is survived by her children, Logan Sigmon and Daniel “Watts” Sigmon; grandchildren, Cameron Anosi Sigmon and Logan Delilah Brown; sister, Sherry Worth and twin sister, Cindy Cameron; brother, Randy Cameron; and she lovingly welcomed her daughter-in-law, Alinafe “Naffy” Sigmon as part of her family. She especially adored her grandchildren and loved spending time with her family.
Cathy will be remembered for her kindness, her nurturing spirit, and the unconditional love she gave so freely. Her legacy lives on through her children and grandchildren, who carry forward her values, warmth, and strength.
She will be deeply missed and forever held in the hearts of her family and all who were blessed to know her.
