Chad James Vargo

Chad James Vargo, 54, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on August 7, 2026.

He was born on July 26, 1972, in Mt. Pleasant, PA, to Albert Vargo and Carol Jane Vargo.

Chad grew up in Belle Vernon, PA, and graduated from Belle Vernon Area High School in 1990, where he played football. He went on to attend Carnegie Mellon University, where he continued to play football and earned a degree in Graphic Communications. During his junior year, he studied abroad at Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien in Vienna, Austria. Chad began his career in New York City with RR Donnelley, where he met his wife, Heidi. His career later took him to Hong Kong for two years on an expatriate assignment before he and Heidi eventually settled in Charlotte. He later earned an MBA in Marketing from UNC Charlotte.

A lifelong and devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan, Chad proudly carried his love for his team throughout his life. He loved music, particularly Pearl Jam, and had a natural talent for singing and drawing. He found joy in expressing himself creatively. Chad also enjoyed cooking, traveling, and spending time outdoors — especially hunting, fishing, and playing golf.

He is survived by his parents and his wife, Heidi Vargo, as well as family and friends who loved him and will miss him dearly.

A visitation with the family will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at University City United Methodist Church, located at 3835 W WT Harris Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28269. A Celebration of Life service will begin immediately following at 11:00 am.

Chad lived life with enthusiasm and a generosity of spirit that made him unforgettable to those who knew him. He leaves behind countless memories, stories, songs, and laughter that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
