Charles James Dillman

October 23, 1942 — August 25, 2023

Cornelius

Charles Dillman, 80, of Cornelius, passed away on August 25, 2023. Chuck was born in Bayonne, New Jersey, on October 23, 1942, to the late Teresa and Harry Dillman. Along with his parents, Chuck is preceded in death by his brother, Harry, and his stepdaughter, Laurie.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara, his daughters Danielle and Kristi, and seven grandchildren.

Chuck attended the Citadel, and then earned his PhD from Penn State. He became a leading Biomechanist, working with sports programs around the world, building medical research foundations, and establishing programs for injury prevention and rehabilitation after injury. He was the Assistant Executive Director of the U.S. Olympic Committee, and a member of the International Olympic Committee Medical Commission.

If Chuck wasn’t actively working with athletes or doing research, his greatest joy was to be outdoors - skiing, biking, playing golf, hiking, snowshoeing, or cruising Lake Norman on his boat.

You are invited to join Barbara for a memorial honoring Chuck this Wednesday, August 30th at 4pm, at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home, with a celebratory reception immediately following.
