Clyde Patterson Caldwell

Clyde Patterson Caldwell, 92, of Cornelius, NC passed peacefully on July 16th, 2026.

Proud to be from Cornelius, Clyde “Zoom” was among the first graduating class at North Mecklenburg High School. There, he met the love of his life, Suzie. They married in 1954 while on a week’s long leave before he so proudly served our country in Korea.

Clyde served his community as a lifelong member of Mount Zion UMC, a founding member of the Don Bridger Sunday School Class, never turning down the opportunity to serve on any and every committee within the church.

He spent the early years of his career with Blythe Construction, then served as Used Equipment Sales Manager with Carolina Tractor for 30+ years. After retirement, he continued serving his community by working at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home.

Along with his parents Clara P. and Samuel L. Caldwell, Clyde is preceded in death by his wife, Suzanne Frye Caldwell; his 4 brothers, Laurie, S.L., Dick, and Bud; and sister, Joyce.

He is survived by his two children, Virginia “Ginger” Caldwell of Cornelius; son, Clyde Patterson “Pat” (Susan) Caldwell Jr. of Mooresville; his granddaughters, Kristen (Thomas) Forehand, Sydney (Harrison) Smith, Ashton (Robert) Held; 7 precious great-grandchildren; sister in law and friend, Freda Brady; and many nieces and nephews he loved dearly.

A visitation will be held Sunday, July 26th, 2026 from 3:00-5:00 pm at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home, Huntersville, NC

A funeral service will be held at 11:00am Monday, July 27th, 2026 at Mount Zion United Methodist Church in Cornelius, NC. Graveside service to follow.
