Colleen was a proud native of Saratoga Springs, New York, and a graduate of St. Peter’s Academy in 1965. Colleen lived in Mechanicville since 1978 and worked for the Mechanicville School System for years. She passed away after a short illness in hospice in Charlotte, North Carolina. She will be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, and loyal friend. She was an accomplished artist, and avid amateur Egyptologist, traveling twice to that country to learn more about its religion and cultural history. She loved horses and rode as a younger person as well as excelling as a speed skater, a daring water skier on Saratoga Lake, and snow skier in the winter. She loved music and concerts, attending all that she could at the Saratoga SPAC.
She leaves behind her brother Thomas Butler, daughters Kristen Leonardi of Mechanicville and Heidi Vriniotis in Voorheesville and David Weirich in Charlotte. She was predeceased by her grandson, Cody Joseph Perkins. She also leaves behind her grandchildren Shannon, Sarah, and great granddaughter Fiona in Mechanicville and Gabriela and David in Voorheesville. For the last 15 years she and her son David have lived in Charlotte, NC with her companion Peter MacMonagle. We will all miss her very much.
