Dan Maddox Finney, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle passed away on August 8, 2024, in Charlotte, NC. He was born on February 26, 1964, in Union Springs, AL, to Marion Finney and Mildred Broaden Finney, both of whom have preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Mattie Finney. Dan was a man of many admirable qualities - strong-willed, with an active imagination, a funny sense of humor, and a kind heart. A country boy at heart, Dan was known for his warm personality and his ability to bring laughter and joy to those around him.
In his leisure time, Dan was an avid Pittsburg Steelers, LA Lakers and University of Alabama football fan. He enjoyed spending peaceful days fishing and had a passion for vintage sports cars, a true enthusiast at heart.
Dan will forever be remembered by his surviving family members and friends, including his loving wife of 14 years, Reeva Dinez Washington, his daughter Courtney Danielle Smith, stepdaughter Jessica Victoria Washington, as well as his grandchildren, Dankeria Smith and Ja'Kamron Manuel. In addition, he is survived by the following family members: his brothers, Marion (Tasha}, Craig (Sharon}, Boris (Tara), and John (Veronica) Finney; his sister, Beverly Finney; in addition to stepbrothers, Theodis Youngblood, Eric Cooks and Clinton Allums; stepsisters, Ruthie Cooks and Linda Allums; very special cousin, Renay Denise Pruitt; very special niece, LaTonya King (Destiney and De'Markus), very special nephew, Marion Finney; a special friend and fellow Alabama fan, "Uncle" Robert Thomas; special niece Hazel Thomas; and a host of extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory.
A visitation in honor of Dan's life will take place on August 14, 2024, at Raymer - Kepner in Huntersville, NC, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM. His funeral and burial will be held in his hometown of Union Springs, AL at a later date.
