David Scott La Rue

David Scott La Rue, born on October 19, 1963, passed away suddenly and went to be with the Lord on April 28, 2025. He was a beloved husband and father who cherished his family above all else.

David graduated from Spotswood High School in Penn Laird, VA, and went on to earn an Associate’s Degree at Blue Ridge Community College.

David had a passion for creating memories with his loved ones. He enjoyed going to Disney World and making the most of every moment spent with his family. His warm personality and caring nature left a lasting impression on those who knew him.

David is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Sherry La Rue, their son Brandon La Rue and his wife Mira, and his brother Jon La Rue and his wife Donna. He is also survived by his sister-in-law's, Pamela La Rue and Vicki La Rue, nieces and nephews; Brian La Rue and his wife Cristin, Cheri Cappelletti and her husband John, Jake La Rue and his wife Dari, Denise Wylie and her husband David, Tammy Gonzalez and her husband Andre, as well as Michelle McMullin and her husband Ron McMullin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Mary La Rue, as well as his brothers Denny La Rue and Dean La Rue, and his sister Jean La Rue.

A visitation will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Grace Covenant Church, located at 17301 Statesville Rd, Cornelius, NC 28031. This will be followed by a Celebration of Life from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the same location.

David will be laid to rest in Harrisonburg, VA at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens on Sunday May 4, 2025.

David will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Grace Covenant Church or MS Happy Feet, as David’s family has been affected by MS and it’s a cause that he believed in.
