Delmo Lafayette Risley

Delmo L Risley, 94, of Cornelius, NC passed away on July 28, 2026.

Del was born in Clarendon, TX on December 15, 1931 to Charlie and Ollie Risley. Along with his parents, Del is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 69 years, Jean Risley.

He is survived by his son, Derek Risley and wife Karen of Cornelius, NC and daughter, Jyll Tartar Risley of Phoenix, AZ as well as three grandchildren, Megan Powell, Reid Powell, and Emma Risley.

Del was a proud Veteran having served in the Air Force during the Korean war and was Honorably Discharged in 1955. He went to college on the G.I. Bill and graduated from Texas Tech University with a Degree in Accounting and served as a Certified Public Accountant finally relinquishing his license at the age of 92. Spending time with his family and serving his church were what Del loved most.

He and his wife Jean were lifelong Members of the Church of Christ. The family gives its heartfelt thanks to the congregation at the Lake Norman Church of Christ for the love and friendship they gave Del and Jean over the years.

A memorial service will be held at Lake Norman Church of Christ in Huntersville, NC at 11:00 am, Saturday, August 8, 2026.
