Dennis Nim Moyer
July 17, 1941 – July 7, 2026
Dennis Nim Moyer, born on July 17, 1941, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2026, at the Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville, NC, with his family by his side. Dennis was a loving, caring husband, father, and grandfather.
After graduating from Hamilton High School in New Jersey, Dennis earned a B.A. in English from Temple University and M.Ed. and Ed.S. degrees in Special Education from The College of New Jersey. He was a member of Kappa Delta Pi, an honor society in education. Dennis taught sixth grade for several years, then special education ranging from elementary school to high school. In 2002 he retired as Assistant Manager for the NJ Division of Special Education where he coordinated complaint investigation for the state. He spent several years in retirement mentoring elementary school boys in Bordentown, NJ. For several years Dennis served as representative for the U U Fellowship of Burlington County on the Ministerium of Churches in Burlington County, NJ.
Dennis enjoyed reading, going to plays and concerts, and traveling. He also enjoyed cooking and improvising recipes. He loved the beach and spent a lot of time with his family at their beach house in Ocean City, NJ.
Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Heisler; daughter and son-in-law, Alison and Gary Gray; grandchildren Alex and his wife Joyce, Elizabeth, and Joshua Gray; brother Michael Moyer and wife Bonnie; a niece and nephew and their children, and cousins.
Dennis is preceded in death by his parents Charles Moyer and Erdith Dwier Moyer.
Dennis loved his family, and he had a positive outlook and a smile up to the end of his life. He lived a full life and touched the lives of many who will remember him fondly.
A celebration of Dennis’ life will be held Saturday, August 29, at University City United Methodist Church, 3835 W. W. T. Harris Blvd, Charlotte, NC. Visitation will be at 10:30 a.m.; memorial service will begin at 11:00 a.m.
