Diane Marie Gormly

Diane M. Gormly, 84, of Huntersville, NC, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2025, at Autumn Care of Cornelius.

Diane was born in Elmira, NY, on July 9, 1941, to the late Daniel and Lucille Gormly. In addition to her parents, Diane was preceded in death by her sister, Marilyn Smithers, in 2024.

She spent much of her life in Elmira, where she worked and raised her family. Diane enjoyed quilting, gardening, and spending time with her beloved dogs, and she especially valued quiet moments with family. Diane was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, where she appreciated the sense of fellowship and service it offered.

Diane is survived by her daughters, Wendy Miller and Carrie (John) Tucci; her grandchildren, Ashton (Kate), Sydney, and Mitchell; and her great-grandchildren, Claire and Daniel. 

In keeping with Diane’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Elmira, NY.

In her later years, Diane’s heart often wandered back to Kingsbury Avenue in Elmira, to the end of the street where winter hills met childhood laughter, and where she found comfort in remembering sleds gliding through the snow under the quiet watch of the old reformatory. Elmira was a place where she longed to return to, and where she is now at peace.
