Douglas "Doug" Robert Gale passed away on May 14, 2026, due to complications after aorta transplant surgery, with his wife, Billie Lebda Gale, by his side. Doug was born on August 12, 1946, and grew up in Rochester, NY. He had an older sister, Maren, and a younger sister, Robyn. An Eagle Scout, he graduated from Brighton High School in 1964 and went on to obtain his undergraduate degree at Whittenburg College and an MBA from the University of Denver.
Doug worked his entire career at Kodak, where he met his wife, Billie. He traveled to many parts of the world for work, enjoying the different people, cultures and food along the way. Doug and Billie retired to North Carolina where he enjoyed much of what the Charlotte area had to offer including the arts and sporting events. He loved to be on the lake, on the golf course, spending time with his many friends, and his regular workouts at Rock Steady Boxing, and of course, playing pool with great friends.
Doug was one of the kindest and most positive people one could ever meet. Regardless of his own needs or situation he usually was thinking or doing whatever he could to help or shine a positive light. He inherited this from his amazing parents, Bob and Donna Gale, carrying it forward and sharing it with everyone around him. Especially his wife, Billie.
Doug was pre-deceased by his sister Maren Moxham and leaves behind his wife Billie, sister Robyn, nephews Todd Moxham (Cori) and Scott Moxham (Donna), and five grandnephews and one grandniece.
