Earl J. Steighner
November 13, 1929 – June 26, 2025
Earl, a proud veteran, devoted father, cook, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at 8:20 PM at the S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House. He was 95 years old, surrounded by love, family, and the peace he always carried within him.
Born on November 13, 1929, in Herman, Pennsylvania, Earl lived a life marked by purpose, laughter, and faith. He served honorably in both the United States Air Force and the United States Army, holding a deep sense of pride.
A man of unwavering faith, Earl found strength and comfort in attending church every Sunday, rarely missing a service. He lived by quiet example—strong, humble, and always guided by grace.
Earl was a true entrepreneur owning serval companies within the food and entertainment business. But what many will remember most is his deep love of cooking and sharing food and drink with others. Whether it was his legendary prime rib or pork chops, Earl’s meals brought people together. His table was always a place of fun, laughter, comfort, and connection.
He believed in living life to the fullest and often said, “I’ve had a good life—and when I go, have a party.” That spirit—joyful, grateful, and celebratory—defined the way he moved through the world and the legacy he leaves behind.
Earl is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Phyllis, his children: sons Alan, Brian, and Earl, and daughter Shelia. Earl’s life and legacy live on through them and through the many lives he touched with his warmth, wisdom, and wonderful sense of humor.
A Mass celebrating Earl’s life will be held on Thursday, July 10th at 11:00 AM at St Therese Catholic Church Mooresville NC, followed by burial with military honors at 2:30 pm at the Salisbury VA National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Earl’s memory to the S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House Mooresville, NC or St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
To know Earl was to know kindness, generosity, and a good story over a great meal and drink. His faith, his love of life, and his enduring sense of humor will never be forgotten.
