Egor Alexander Porter, of Austin, TX, passed away on August 1, 2024. Born in Kemerovo, Russia on January 15, 2000, he and his sister Daria ("Dasha") were adopted by his parents Kimberly and David Porter in 2005. Growing up, Egor lived in Orlando, FL, Spokane, WA, with most of his time spent in Charlotte, NC. He attended high school at Arborbrook Christian Academy and graduated in May 2019. Born a natural athlete, he played club soccer for many years and in high school was on the cross country, soccer and golf teams. Egor excelled in Spartan (obstacle course) races and completed his trifecta, a 3-race series, in his high school years. He loved being in or on the water, swimming, kayaking, fishing and sailing. Egor became certified as a scuba diver and loved the underwater adventures. An avid climber and hiker, he particularly enjoyed hiking in the Blue Ridge Mountains and Pisgah National Forest of North Carolina. Also, a gifted artist, he sketched and painted beautiful artwork.
Egor had a heart for service whether on a mission team in Nicaragua, volunteering during Love Week at his church, doing yard work for senior citizens, or simply helping his mom around the house, he was always ready to lend a helping hand.
After high school graduation, he briefly attended CPCC before moving to Butte, MT where he lived for over a year and learned how to care for farm animals while living on a ranch. He left Montana and moved to Austin, TX where he spent almost two years.
Egor had a childlike innocence and was a joy to be around. He was energetic, kindhearted and very competitive. He never met a stranger, and everyone loved to hang out with Egor. Unknown at the time of his adoption, he was born with FASD (Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder). This condition, with no cure, created lifelong challenges for him, particularly with mental health and in his young adult years, substance abuse. Egor had an unwavering love for the Lord that began at a young age and endured throughout his far too short life. He was loved by, and will be missed by so many.
Egor is survived by his loving family, parents Kimberly Bowman-Porter and David Porter, and his sister, Dasha Katarina Porter, all of Denver, NC. He is also survived by aunts and uncles, Kim and Keith Wilson of Oakboro, NC, Michele and John Seiwert and Kathy Bowman-Reynolds of Cincinnati, OH and numerous cousins in Charlotte and Hickory, NC and Cincinnati, OH.
