Evelyn Pachana (née Kurdyla) was born in Newark, New Jersey in 1935, the 10th child of Stephen and Tekla Kurdyla. She and her family were parishioners of St Casimir’s Church in the Ironbound section of Newark; she graduated from East Side High School in 1953. Evelyn married Joseph Theodore Pachana in 1962. She worked in several different businesses between the time she was home with her children and she retired from banking. The family gatherings of Evelyn and Joe at Bayard Place are fondly remembered by friends and family alike (and she has the pictures to prove it!).
Evelyn is predeceased by her parents, her husband, and her brothers Ernest, Joseph, Stanley, Matthew, Eugene, Henry, William, Bruno, and Richard. She leaves behind her daughters Nancy (and husband Tim) and Joann (and husband Bryan), her grandsons Michael and Andrew, and her sister-in-law Marion. She was much beloved of many godchildren, nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews. She is a much-missed confidant of many friends and family, always available for a story or a laugh and with a prodigious memory for birthdays and anniversaries.
