Faye Cook Zarins

March 7, 1947 — April 19, 2024

Denver

Faye Cook Zarins passed away peacefully on April 19th, 2024.  She was born on March 7th,1947 in Robeson County, NC,  daughter of the late Marian Frances and Robert  Junior Cook. Faye's life was filled with the most important ingredients from the very start–faith in her Savior, love for her friends and family, hard work and service to others.  She pursued professional excellence in her decades-long transportation and logistics industry career.  Faye retired after a long, successful sales career with Yellow Freight where she was the recipient of numerous awards and gained the respect of colleagues and customers in equal measure.

Faye lived a personal life filled with integrity and compassion that she poured out into others. She made moments matter which added up to a life so very well lived.  Her hands were rarely idle, preferring instead to stay busy.  Faye’s favorite times were those shared with her grandchildren, Caden and Addison.  She was an avid gardener and spent countless hours tending her flowers.  She loved lake life in the home that she and her husband Juris built while creating memories with family and friends.  Faye was the heartbeat of her family. Together with her beloved husband, she raised two children in a home filled with happy memories; one that created a rhythm of life over their 55-year marriage that was so steady and sure, it was like gravity.   Her charm and zest for life was infectious.

We all feel untethered without her physical presence, but we draw comfort from knowing she will never be absent from our hearts and that her legacy lives on in us.

Faye was preceded in death by her parents (Robert and Marian Cook), her brother (Tony Cook) and sister (Barbara Cook York) and brother-in-law (Randy Dyer).  She leaves to cherish the memories stored up in their hearts, her devoted husband Juris Zarins of Denver, NC; her treasured sons Christopher Travis Zarins and wife, Jennifer, along with grand twins Caden and Addison of Raleigh, NC and Roman Todd Zarins and wife Carla, of Denver, NC; her dear sister Cathy Cook Dyer; a nephew and nieces and  cherished cousin, Gayle Hentz and husband David of Sherrills Ford, NC; and so many others whose lives she touched.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, April 25, 2024 at Salem United Methodist Church, 378 N. Pilot Knob Road, Denver, N.C.  Interment will be a small private family gathering in the church cemetery.   In lieu of flowers the family request donations to be made to Salem United Methodist Church or the “Make A Gift-CurePSP” Foundation.
