Fred Lewis VonCannon, 85, of Denver, NC passed away on July 19, 2022. He would like you to know that his work here is done. He received a call, a sort of offer you can’t refuse, for an appointment from which he will not be returning. This assignment comes with a huge sign-on bonus, a reunion with family and friends he has not seen in a long time.
Fred was born in Greensboro, NC on January 18, 1937 to the late Paul and Myrtle VonCannon. He was a US Army Veteran and served in the Reserves. His entire working career was spent with Duke Energy which afforded him many great personal relationships during that time in his life. Most important to Fred were his love of Christ and his family. He was a faithful servant of God and gave generously of himself to a number of church families through the years. Any opportunity to spend time with family and friends were a priority for Fred be it actively participating in the lives of his grandchildren, sharing his lake life with others during retirement or traveling the globe to experience new cultures with the love of his life. Fred’s giving spirit guided the countless opportunities he had to be a positive influence on the lives of others. His was truly a life well lived.
He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Katherine Anna VonCannon; son, Jeff (Shellie) and children, Adam (Gretchen) and Lauren; son Gary (Beth) and children, Rachel (John), Emily and Grace: daughter Kris (Mac) and children McIntyre, Jake and William: brother Jim (Carol):and a beautiful extensive family of nieces, nephews, stepchildren, and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at Westport Baptist Church in Denver, NC followed by a meal for all in attendance with time to greet family. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the church’s He Is Worthy fund in honor of Fred VonCannon.
