George Winovich

George Winovich, 83, of Davidson, NC, passed away on February 29, 2024.

He was born in Pittsburg, PA. George worked for the US Treasury Department, office of US Customs as a federal agent from 1970-1996 where he retired. He served his country proudly in the United States Army. George was a proud Serbian and authored 4 books, his most prized book was Finding Uncle Simo, as story about a long-lost uncle that he brought back to the family fold.

He had an outgoing personality and enjoyed talking to everyone he met. He was a great listener, a true gentleman and loyal to this family and faith. In later years, he got the bug to play pickleball which was quite competitive. He was a loving husband to his wife, Patrice, wonderful uncle and true friend to those he called friend.

George is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Patrice Winovich, niece Tanya Zajch(Kenny), nephew Milan Vukas. He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen; father, Milo Winovich; sister, Helene (Sissy) Vukas; brother-in-law, Milan Vukas; and many cousins.

The family offers special thanks to Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County.

A memorial service will be held at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home in Huntersville, NC on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 12:00pm. The family will receive friends prior to the service at 11:00am.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of George may be offered to the Palliative Care and Hospice of   Iredell County www.HOIC.org.
