Gregory "Brent" Bolster

May 12, 1948 — March 26, 2024

Gregory "Brent" Bolster, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2024.

Brent was born to Lawrence and Ethel Mae Bolster in Baltimore, Maryland, where he was raised along with his older brother Carey.  His high school years were marked by the development of a tight-knit group of friends who, from high school onward, remained closely connected.

He attended the University of Maryland, where he worked his way through college and learned computers and information technology. It was during these years that he met his loving wife Gloria. Their union, lasting 45 years, was blessed with love, laughter, partnership, respect, and the joy of raising their two children, Melinda and Zach. Together, Brent and Gloria served as living examples of integrity, kindness, and successful partnership.

Brent enjoyed a 30-year career at McCormick (spice company). His leadership in pivotal projects, especially the Year 2000 project, showcased his ability to execute and also earned him the esteemed C.P. McCormick Award. Brent's charisma, charm, and ability to inspire those around him left a mark on the people he worked with and helped foster life-long friendships. Beyond his career achievements, Brent's heart belonged at home, with his family. Brent had a gift for creating memorable family moments. Whether it was camping trips to Deep Creek Lake, coaching Zach’s lacrosse team to an undefeated season, hosting summer dinners on the deck - it was always a good time with Brent.  Through it all, there was an eclectic soundtrack (The Beatles, Jimmy Buffet, Pink Floyd, The Who) accompanying a life filled with fun, music, and laughter.

After a successful career, Brent moved to Lake Norman, to embrace the role of an active and involved grandfather.  During these years, he enjoyed cruising on his boat, driving his Corvette, traveling the world, attending concerts, tutoring local students in math, and spending time with his grandkids.

Brent's life was a testament to what it means to live well, leaving a legacy of love, accomplishment, and positive impact.  He is survived by his children, Zach and Melinda Bolster; his grandchildren; and a community of friends and family whose lives he touched deeply.
