What a lovely lady!

Our Mother’s life was a living example of kindness and compassion. She was a strong woman who faced every challenge in her life with courage and dignity. Being the kind, caring and giving person she was, she never missed a Thursday call to her best friend. She was a source of inspiration to all and will be deeply missed by everyone whose lives she touched.

After retiring from a 30 year beauty business, our Mother moved to South Carolina and lived her best life…Enjoying the beach with her family, golfing and pottery with special people. Throughout her life she greatly appreciated everyone’s friendship.

Her talents were endless…Mother made the best apple pies, she was smart, always able to find an answer, funny and tough all at the same time and always ready for the next adventure. She always said “Life is too short to be anything but happy!”

Mom was married to Dad, Ronald Burden, until his death in 1995. She married Bill (Jiggs) McGuire in 2006 until his death in 2013.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Iola Milford; brother, Bob Milford; her sidekick Maggie.

She is survived by her loving family…daughter Cheryl and husband Gary (Casty); daughter Kim and husband Bill (Yingst); the best Mimi to grandchildren Abby and Will (Yingst); 5 grand dogs and 3 grand cats.
Also survived by her brother Paul Milford; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Celebrate Harriet’s life by donating to your local animal shelter or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Keeping with our Mother’s giving spirit she requested her body be donated to Wake Forest University School of Medicine in lieu of a funeral.

If you find yourself at the beach, think of Mom because that's where she'll be.
