Henry Linwood ‘Lin’ Snowa, Jr, age 79, passed away on January 9, 2026, at Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville, NC after battling kidney failure resulting from metastatic cancer.
Lin was born May 3, 1946, to the late Henry Linwood Snowa, Sr., and Alma Douglas Cree Snowa in Richmond, Virginia. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School, Richmond, VA in 1964 and Virginia Commonwealth University in 1968. During his college years Lin developed a life-long passion for volunteering, serving as a volunteer EMT for the ambulance squad while completing his degree.
While in college Lin began working for Deluxe Check Printers Corporation and completed his 42-year career with Deluxe in 2009 after working in Richmond, VA; Paoli, PA; St. Paul MN; and Greensboro, NC where he spent most of his career. While working in Greensboro Lin lived in Jamestown, NC and continued to volunteer and make a difference in the community by serving with the Jamestown Civitan’s, joining the volunteer fire department, and later serving as the assistant volunteer fire chief.
Lin and Jeanne moved to Cornelius, NC in 2013 where he quickly began finding ways to serve and make a positive impact on the community he loved by serving on the Police Crime Initiative, the Cornelius Transportation Board, and as the first Treasurer of the Preserve at Robbins Park HOA. Lin regularly attended Cornelius town council meetings where he often presented his own research, information, and opinions to the council during public comments regarding the need for additional funding for the local police and fire departments as well as ways to improve town parks and infrastructure.
Lin was a member of Davidson College Presbyterian Church where he attended the Friday Men’s Group and regularly served as a greeter on Sundays.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jeanne Greene Snowa; children: William Snowa, Heather De-Palma-Spivey (Susan), and Lewis Spivey (Kelli); grandchildren, Rachel Snowa, Jack Snowa, Logan Spivey, and Brooke Spivey; brother, James Snowa; and niece Katheryne Snowa.
Lin and his wife Jeanne were married for almost 35 years, and they truly loved their life together. Lin and Jeanne enjoyed dancing, traveling, playing golf together, and especially adored spending time with their four grandchildren whom he was very proud of.
He was passionate about staying active and played tennis and golf weekly with friends and family. He also enjoyed snow skiing, reading, learning, and helping others.
