Inge Gertrud Bridges, 81, of Huntersville, NC, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2024.

Inge was born on June 20, 1943, in Landau in Bavaria, Germany, to the late Michael and Gertrud Mayr. She was a devoted mother, wife, and friend who cherished her family and embraced all that life had to offer.

Inge met and married her husband, Talmadge Bryson Bridges, Jr., in Munich, Germany, while he was stationed there with the US Army. Together, they moved to the United States, settling in North Carolina, and frequently visiting their beloved beaches. She was a dedicated working mother who took immense pride in her professional achievements, embodying women’s independence and equality. She also steadfastly supported her husband, family, and her children through college.

Inge cherished her husband of 60 years, enjoyed traveling, shopping, and caring for others. She was known for her love of chocolate and her warm hospitality, always offering coffee and treats to visitors at her home.

Inge is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her loving husband, Talmadge Bryson Bridges, Jr.; her children, Caroline Brigitte Bridges, Talmadge Michael Bridges, and Elizabeth Mayr; her siblings, Wilhelm Mayr, Sabina Mayr, Michael Mayr, and Gunther Mayr; and her grandchildren, Logan Roach, Joshua Roach, Elizabeth Bridges, and Michael Bridges.

A private Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2024, from 9:30 – 10:30 am at the Haven at Carolina Place in Pineville, NC.
