Jacalyn Dorothy Priddy, known lovingly as Jackie, has us, but her light-hearted and silly spirit will always be remembered. She was born on March 14, 1951, in Long Island, NY to Edward Sipek and Dorothy Rausch Sipek. On January 5, 2024, Jacalyn took her last breath in Charlotte, NC, leaving behind a legacy of love and joy.
In her career as an accountant, Jacalyn demonstrated unwavering dedication and commitment. Beyond her professional achievements, Jacalyn had a personality that inspired all who knew her. She had an uncanny ability to see the best in others and never passed judgment. Her non-judgmental approach created an environment where people felt comfortable being themselves. Although she could be stubborn at times, it was clear that she only stood her ground out of deep conviction for what she believed in.
One of Jacalyn's many talents was her artistic side. She had a creative flair that found expression in various forms. From ceramics to crochet, cross-stitching to basket-making - Jacalyn let her imagination guide her hands.
Jacalyn had a passion for genealogy, going beyond tracing only the roots of her own family tree. She would often delve into the lineage of close friends with the same enthusiasm. Her proudest accomplishment was discovering ancestral ties that stretched back to the 18th century.
Outside of work and hobbies, Jacalyn found solace in nature's beauty. The saying is true, she would rather be camping. Planting flowers was one of her favorite activities to connect with the earth and create beauty around her home. She also enjoyed the peacefulness found in watching birds, which brought her a sense of tranquility and serenity. Music held a special place in her heart, and she found joy in listening to Simon & Garfunkel's melodies. She also enjoyed collecting beautiful glass nesting hens.
Jacalyn's beloved beagles, Mila (her favorite), Mickey, and Cocoa, were constants in her life. These faithful companions provided unconditional love and comfort throughout the years. Their wagging tails and wet noses filled her days with warmth and laughter.
Jacalyn's impact extended beyond herself as she formed deep connections with both family and friends. She leaves behind her loving son, Thomas A. Riley II, and his wife Sharon Riley, as well as her daughter Katherine Marie Riley. Her grandchildren Kennedy Newhart, Thomas A. Riley III, Rachel Riley, Jayla Sharpe, and great-grandchildren Lucian Newhart; and brother, Edward Sipek II and his wife Julie Sipek. Lastly, she will be missed dearly by her honoree sister and childhood friend of nearly 70 years, Leslie Ingram.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Donna Sipek and great grandson Rhys Newhart.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dementia Society of America or ALS.org.
