James Charles Bailey

James Charles Bailey, 84, of Huntersville, NC passed away on August 19, 2024.  

Jim was born in Lafayette, IN on June 2, 1940 to the Maurice Bailey and Doris Kugelman Bailey.  

He is survived by his wife, Cynda Bailey; siblings, Susan (Michael) Levi, F. Stephen Bailey (Val), & Christopher Bailey; daughters, Pamela (David) Straitiff, Sheila (David) Anthony; stepchildren, Jennifer (Michael) Braun, R. Sean (Paula) Kester, Robin (Thomas) Greg; and 11 grandchildren.

Jim retired from Sweet Home High School after teaching Special Education for over 35 years; he then taught graduate students at Canisus College in Buffalo, NY.  In addition, he served on the Amherst Youth Board for many years.  In his spare time, Jim enjoyed sailing and was a longtime member of the Buffalo Harbor Sailing Club.  He and Cynda relocated to Denver, NC in 2004, where he joined the Denver Rotary in which he was able to continue serving his community in Huntersville.  Jim also enjoyed being a member of the Northstone Country Club.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at 4:00 PM at Unity Presbyterian Church in Denver, NC.

In honor of Jim, memorial donations may be made to the Special Olympics or Manasota Buds, Inc.
