James David Hunt

May 14, 1971 — September 3, 2025

James David Hunt, 54, of Huntersville, NC passed away on September 3, 2025.

David was born in Charlotte, NC on May 14, 1971 to Frank and Gail Hunt.

He is preceded in death by his father Frank Hunt, mother Gail Hunt and longtime companion Deborah Knox.

He is survived by his sisters, Vickey Holmes, Nancy Salazar (Robert) and Toni Hilton; brother, Randy Smith; nieces and nephews, Morgan Scott (Timothy), Heather Smith, Ryan McElrath, Dakota Hilton, and Hunter Hilton; great niece and nephew Ava Holmes and Nolan Zeigler.

A memorial service will be held at Lakehaven Community Church in Huntersville on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 2:00pm.

David was the kind of person who made everyone laugh. His jokes (and constant pestering of his sisters) were matched only by his big, infectious laugh that made it impossible not to join in.

He loved spending time with family especially watching the Atlanta Braves with his dad. He was happiest outdoors soaking up the sunshine, and never missed a chance to meet someone new. David never met a stranger – he made friends wherever he went.

He will be deeply missed by his family and friends, but his memory will live on in the laughter, stories and the love he leaves behind.
