Jason Hunter Darwin, 49, of Charlotte, North Carolina passed away on October 9, 2025. Jason was born in Charlotte on September 3, 1976 to David Eugene Darwin and Nancy Carolyn Brown Darwin. Along with his parents, he is survived by his daughters, Caroline Darwin, 21, Isabelle Darwin,18 and his brother, David Eugene Darwin Jr.
Jason graduated from West Mecklenburg High School in 1994, with honors, and was the Morehead Scholarship nominee for his senior class. He earned his Eagle Scout Award by building a cross country course at West Mecklenburg for his Eagle project.
Jason earned a Bachelor's degree in Journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He later earned Bachelor's degree from Harvard's Online Business School. Jason started as a Web Journalist for Capital Broadcasting at WRAL-TV in Raleigh, NC and then was a Senior Web Journalist at WCNC-TV. He joined Spectrum News as the Web Manager and built an award-winning team that was recognized with the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award for their Large-Market site. Following Spectrum's merger with Charter Communications, Jason channeled his passion for technological innovation into a new role as Information Systems Manager, supporting both the Marketing and IT departments. Most recently, Jason held the role of Vice President of Technology at Charter, where he led a team dedicated to enterprise architecture, software development and advanced engineering. His efforts supported the growth of a business, in digital products, by building scalable advertising ecosystems.
Jason was a generous, kind, caring and supportive father, son and brother who lived for “his girls.” He enjoyed coaching softball, playing chess, watching movies and playing the piano. Most recently he was focused on creating a new company called Littlebit, an AI TV-based application that could assist dementia patients with television functionality and other activities. He enjoyed helping others and spent time volunteering at the Charlotte Rescue Mission, while also supporting several local charities through his time and donations.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm for close family and friends at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home, Huntersville NC. A celebration of life will be held in a few weeks.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jason's memory to The Charlotte Rescue Mission.
