“A light went out on Earth for me, the day we said goodbye

And on that day a star was born, the brightest in the sky

Reaching through the darkness, with its rays of purest white

Lighting up the Heavens, as it once lit up my life

With beams of love to heal, the broken heart you left behind

Where always in my memory, your lovely star will shine”

Jeffrey William Calloway of Beckley, WV, went to his eternal resting place on August 1, 2024, following a short illness. Jeff was born in Beckley, WV on August 26, 1977. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents William (Bill) and Alma Calloway and maternal grandparents Bertha Pagel and Earl Fred Koppit.

He is survived by his loving wife Shannan of 26 years, and two beautiful children, Loghan and Mason Calloway. His parents, Kenneth and Carol Calloway of Glen Daniel, WV. A brother, Kevin and Jenny Calloway of Glen Daniel, WV. A sister-in-law Autumn and Dale Spratt of Beckley, WV. Two nieces, Gabby Calloway and Braelyn Spratt. Two nephews, Kyle Calloway and Kaeden Spratt and a host of family and friends.

Jeff graduated from Oceana High School in 1995. His love for sports showed in his achievements. He was a 4-year letter man in football, basketball, and baseball. He was awarded All State for baseball his senior year. His talent granted him a few scholarships to play baseball in college.

Jeff graduated from Glenville State University with an associate’s degree in forestry. He worked as a Timber Cruiser for 2 years. Although he loved working outdoors, he decided to further his education and received a telecommunication degree from Wyoming County Career and Technical Center with a CCNA degree. He worked for several years in the telecommunication industry for multiple companies including: Fibernet, Dobson, Cellular One, and AT&T.

Jeff embodied a deep passion for the great outdoors and all things sports, especially watching his favorite hockey team, the Pittsburgh Penguins. He was a successful hunter, and his trophy room reflected that. His love for hunting took him on adventures to multiple destinations, where he successfully bagged Colorado Elk, Mule Deer, Canadian Bear, and Caribou. Jeff loved the rugged outdoor camping and living by God’s creations.

His infectious smile and kind heart made him a joy to be around, and his selflessness inspired others to be more considerate as well. Jeff was a devoted husband, father, son, and brother. His love for his family knew no bounds, and his proudest accomplishment was raising his two wonderful children. He believed in living life to the fullest and left an everlasting impression on those fortunate enough to have known him.
