Jill Sammons Parrish, 58, of Davidson, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 29, 2025. She was born on February 21, 1967, in Blakely, Georgia, the daughter of the late Reverend Dr. Jack and Joan Clark Sammons.

Jill grew up in North Carolina, spending her childhood in Louisburg, Franklinton, and Canton before settling in Charlotte to attend the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She graduated in 1988 with a Bachelor of Arts in English and later earned her Master’s in Counseling in 2004.

In 1995, Jill married Bill Parrish, and together they welcomed their daughter, Addison, in 1997. Her greatest joy in life was her family, and she poured her love and wisdom into their lives daily.

Jill devoted her professional career to helping others through counseling. She served as a counselor at the Mecklenburg County Women’s Commission, Daymark Recovery Services, and Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, where she found her calling as a bereavement counselor. Her work touched countless lives, offering comfort, hope, and healing to families in some of their most difficult moments.

She was a Licensed Professional Counselor and a National Certified Counselor and was honored to be a member of Chi Sigma Iota, Phi Kappa Phi, and other academic and professional honor societies.

Jill was a devoted member of Mecklenburg Community Church for over 25 years. She volunteered in numerous ministries and with community organizations including Crisis Assistance Ministry and Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina. Jill exemplified Christ’s love through her actions, her gentleness, and her ability to empathize and care sincerely for others.

Jill will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, her heart of gold, and her unwavering dedication to serving others. Her legacy lives on in the seeds of love, kindness, and faith she planted in the lives of those who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Bill Parrish, and her daughter, Addison Parrish.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025 from 10:00 - 11:00 AM at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home of Huntersville. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM following the visitation. Interment will be held after the services at Mt. Zion Community Cemetery, Cornelius.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Jill's memory to either Hospice of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Ln., Kannapolis, NC 28081 or to Carolina Caring, 3975 Robinson Rd., Newton, NC 28658 (Attn: Foundation Department).
