John Frederick Link

John Frederick Link, 91, of Huntersville, NC passed away on August 9, 2026, at his home.

John was born in Los Angeles, California on July 16, 1935 to John Frederick Link Sr. and Edwina McDonald.

Across many decades, John made his mark as a renowned Motion-Picture Film Editor. He earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Film Editing with 1988’s Die Hard, and he worked on several films with Arnold Schwarzenegger, among other stars. The movie buff he was, John loved to read books about films and actors, such as his favorites, Laurel and Hardy. He was incredibly kind, charming, and always a positive-thinker. And no matter the day, John could enjoy himself a large bowl of ice cream.

He is survived by his wife, Wendy Holmes-Link; sons, Jonathan Link and Daniel Link; and daughter, Charlotte Link.
