John Medlin

March 11, 1952 — June 21, 2024

Raleigh

John "Rick" Medlin, a man known for his fun-loving spirit and zest for life, passed away on June 21, 2024. He was born on March 11, 1952, and throughout his life, he embraced every moment with a vibrant energy that touched all who knew him.

Rick's passion for enjoying life to the fullest evident in his love for attending concerts and live music events. His joy in these gatherings was contagious, spreading laughter and happiness to those around him. In his later years, he found a new interest in learning how to cook, a hobby he pursued with enthusiasm and dedication, thanks to the support and encouragement of his fiancé, Heather.

He is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Audrey Medlin, as well as his brother Michael Medlin.

Rick is survived by Heather Yanno (fiancé); Jolie Householder (Daughter); Brenda and Wendell Williams (sister and brother-in-law) of Fayetteville, NC; Julie Burns (sister) of Charlotte, NC; TJ Burns (nephew) of Charlotte, NC; Aeryn Householder (granddaughter); and favorite childhood cousin Cathy Leathers.

Rick worked for Hill-Rom(Baxter) for over 27 years. He was a dedicated and hard worker. His technical experience was in a class by itself. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge with his team members whenever he needed to. The last 14 years of his employment were spent at Duke University Hospital. He was the number one Field Service Technician out of five Hill-Rom Techs that worked on site. His team members and the staff members at Duke enjoyed Rick sense of humor.

Though he is no longer with us, his spirit lives on in the memories of all those whose lives he touched. May he rest in peace knowing that he brought laughter and joy to many hearts during his time with us.

Services for Rick will be privately held with the family.

Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home is assisting the family.
