Jose Rafael Lopez Naar

Jose Rafael Lopez Naar, a dedicated aviation operations professional, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2026, in Huntersville, North Carolina. Born on April 14, 1941, in Margarita Island, Venezuela, he devoted his life to his career at Viasa National Airlines, where his contributions to aviation operations were significant and deeply valued. Jose also proudly served in the Venezuelan Navy.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Marilyn Rodriguez, and his children: Michael, Joseph, Melissa and Johannes; 13 grandchildren, and 1 Great Grandchild.

Jose also leaves behind his brothers and Sisters, Victor Jesus Manuel Lopez, Jesus Manuel Lopez, Ica Lopez, and Carmen Lopez. As well as several nieces and nephews who cherish the memories shared with him.

Jose was preceded in death by his father, Manuel M. Lopez, and his mother, Etanisla Naar Lopez. He also mourned the loss of his sisters, Libia Lopez and Dilcia Lopez, and his brother, Luis Lopez.

A visitation to celebrate Jose’s life will be held on February 7, 2026, from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home in Huntersville, NC, followed by a memorial service that will take place at the same location at 11:30 AM.  A reception will follow after the service.

Jose Rafael Lopez Naar will be remembered for his commitment to family, his passion for aviation, baseball, and music. The love he shared with those around him will be felt for generations, and His memory will live all over the world in the hearts of all who knew him.
