Joyce “Kay” Jacobson, 88, of Davidson, NC, passed away peacefully at the Hospice House in Huntersville, NC on March 21, 2024.

Kay was born in Indiana to the late Robert and Marthalie Slorp (Manuel). She graduated from Butler University where she was president of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority and the Panhellenic Society. She had a career as a teacher in Alaska and later as sales manager with 3M in Connecticut and New Jersey. She is survived by her husband, Robert, daughters Pamela Boes (Douglas) and Angela Smith (Matthew), sister Janet Perry (Norman), grandchildren Kimberly and Adam Utecht, Heather and Nicholas Olson, Alexander and Michelle Boes, Austen and Josh Smith, Alexis and Brandon Sanborn, stepsons Andrew (Nancy) and Peter (Lisa) Jacobson, grandchildren Ann, Alice, Beatrice, Kristin, and Lindsey.

Kay sung in the choir of the First Presbyterian Church in New Bern where she was an elder and a member. She was a cancer survivor and had been active in charities such as the New Bern Soup Kitchen, Habitat for Humanity, and Meals on Wheels. She also participated in multiple cancer survivor charity events.

Kay enjoyed playing bridge and golf at the Greenbrier Golf Club with the same group of neighbors every Sunday.

She also loved traveling with dear friends to southwestern United States, South America, Europe, the Balkans, the British Isles, and Scandinavia to visit family in Norway.

Local arrangements are being handled by Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home in Huntersville, N.C.

Family memorial services will be held at a later date in Mendham, NJ, where Kay will be interred.  Celebration of life Services will also be held in Ohio and Nebraska. Memorial gifts should be made to the charity of your choice or the Levine Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville.
