Joyce Pitt, 83, passed away on February 3, 2021. She was born on May 15, 1937 to the late George and Lillian Haworth in Lancashire, England.
After growing up in the north of England and in Cardiff, South Wales, Joyce studied at the University of York, England, before devoting herself to a career of social work. After her retirement, Joyce continued to serve the community through charity work and was active in local politics.
Making her home in Surrey, England for the past 40 years, Joyce loved the simplicity and beauty of nature but she also had a passion for overseas travel and absorbing the cultures of those countries she visited. In her later years she could be found hot-air ballooning over the Great Pyramids, raising money for charity by walking the Great Wall of China, riding the Trans-Siberian Express to Russia, gliding over the South Downs of England or simply admiring the swans as she walked along the Basingstoke canal in Surrey.
Along with her parents and her five siblings, Joyce is preceded in death by husbands, Leslie Lewis and Keith Pitt; granddaughter, Helen McDonald; and great grandson, Kieran McDonald.
She is survived by her daughter, Audrey McDonald; son, Gareth Lewis-Pitt; grandchildren, Kelly McDonald, Andrew Lewis-Pitt, Georgia Lewis-Pitt, and David Lewis-Pitt; five great-grandchildren; and stepchildren, Malcolm Pitt, Terri Levett, and Nigel Pitt.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home, Huntersville, North Carolina.
