Judith E. Blythe

Judith Estelle Garmon Blythe, age 74, died August 26, 2020, after a short illness. Judy was born on December 10, 1945 in Charlotte, NC, graduated from West Mecklenburg High School, attended UNC Charlotte, and then earned her Nursing Degree at CPCC. As a dedicated R.N., she worked at several hospitals, several Doctors offices and ended her career at Mecklenburg Mental Health Dept. She accomplished all of that while loving and raising her three children.

Judy loved singing and playing her mother’s piano and even composed a few of her own piano melodies. She sang in the Charlotte Choral Society’s “Singing Christmas Tree” and for many years she also sang in her church choir.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul M. Garmon, Sr. and Kathleen H. Garmon; and her brother, Dr. Paul M. Garmon, Jr.  

She is survived in life by: her husband of 54 years, John C. (Jack) Blythe; daughter, Stephanie R. Blythe (Brent Marr); son, Eric H. Blythe (Hannah Lee); son, John R. Blythe; two wonderful grandchildren, Bella Lee, daughter of Eric and Hannah; and Brooks Blythe, son of John R. Blythe and Beth Davis Blythe. Judy is also survived by her nephew, Trey Garmon, niece Ashley Garmon, and sister-in-law, Ann Garmon.

Judy loved and helped shape her children, but was “in love” with her grandchildren, Bella and Brooks. They lit up her world and made her so happy and proud.

Our family wants to express our profound and sincere gratitude and appreciation to the medical team at Huntersville Presbyterian for their kind, devoted and loving care while Judy was in ICU for 8 days and then Hospice Care.

Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home is serving the Blythe family. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
