Judy Keith Herda, a devoted pediatric oncology nurse and beloved family member, passed away on May 1, 2025, in Charlotte, North Carolina, at the age of 67. Born in Canton, Ohio, on September 3, 1957, Judy led a life rich in compassion, knowledge, and love.

Judy dedicated her professional life to the care of children fighting cancer. Her work as a pediatric oncology nurse was not only a career but also a profound mission that reflected her deep-seated commitment to helping others. Throughout her distinguished career, she touched countless lives and offered solace to families during their most challenging times.

An alumnus of Ohio State University, Judy furthered her education by obtaining a Master's and Doctorate in nursing from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Her pursuit of knowledge was a testament to her belief in lifelong learning, underscoring her passion for her profession.

Beyond her impressive career, Judy cherished time spent with her family. She was the loving wife of Tom Herda, with whom she shared forty-four wonderful years. Together, they built a life filled with laughter and mutual support. Judy was also a dedicated mother to her son, Brett Herda, and daughter, Brooke Herda, whom she adored. Her bonds with her sisters, Carol Mancino and husband Doug, and Katie Loretta and husband Ralph, were precious, further enriching her life. Judy's family also included several nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom she loved dearly.

Judy's interests extended beyond her profession and family, as she was an avid reader, a life-long learner, and a passionate football fan, particularly supporting the Carolina Panthers. Her enthusiasm for sports often brought her joy, further uniting her with friends and family in shared experiences. She also loved her dogs and enjoyed spending time with them over the years.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph Dalton Keith and Mary Neborak Keith. Their love and guidance were foundational to her character and unwavering spirit.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2025, 11:00 AM, at St. Mark Catholic Church, Huntersville. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Community Cemetery, Cornelius following the mass.  

Judy leaves behind a legacy of compassion, knowledge, and love that will continue to inspire those who knew her. She will forever be remembered for her warm heart, dedication to nursing, and the devotion she held for her family, dogs, and friends.
