Kathleen Wages

April 22, 1950 — June 16, 2021

Kathleen Jean Wages, “Kathy”, 71, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2021. She was born April 22, 1950, to the late Charles Thomas Mepham and Jean Elizabeth Mepham.
 
She grew up in Allen Park, MI and was a graduate of Cabrini High School. She went on to receive her Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education from Michigan State University, followed by her Masters in Education from Wayne State University. Kathy is survived by her husband of 43 years, John Arthur Wages; son, Christopher John Wages (Anne) of Davidson, NC; daughter, Leah Kathleen (Wages) McDowell of Davidson, NC; granddaughter, Lily Kathleen McDowell, of Davidson, NC; brother, Douglas Mepham (Deborah) of Hastings, MI; sister, Barbara Ford (Stephen) of Carlsbad, CA; and extended family.
 
As a teacher, Kathy taught in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Flint, Michigan; Taylor, Michigan; and Hartland, Michigan where she completed her teaching career as a high school special ed teacher. After retiring from the classroom, Kathy went back to Hartland as an administrator for their Legacy High School program. She was a friend to many and loved by all. She was a lifetime fan of Michigan State University and loved watching the Spartans play football. Kathy enjoyed gardening, taking trips to the beach, especially Sanibel Island, FL, and being Gigi to her granddaughter, Lily.
 
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made if so desired to Ada Jenkins Center at 212 Gamble St., Davidson, NC 28036. A celebration of her life will be held June 29, 2021 from 11:00AM to 1:00 PM 15129 Reese Finley Ln., Cornelius, NC 28031. This will be a drop-in event where you can share happy memories with the family and friends of Kathy
