Kathryn Victoria House

Kathyrn “Kathy” Victoria House, 80, formerly of Keene Valley, NY passed away peacefully on April 2, 2026, in Charlotte, NC.

Kathy was born in Boston, MA on September 11, 1945 to the late John Dann and Edith Rebecca Chetwynd.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, John Dann, Jr. of Luxenbourg.

Kathy grew up in Buffalo, NY. After high school she attended the Genesee School of Nursing in Rochester, NY. Kathy and family moved to Keene Valley, NY in the early 1970’s where she continued her nursing career at the Keene Valley Hospital until it closed in 1978. She spent the majority of her career working in the emergency room of Elizabethtown Community Hospital and other hospitals in Massachusetts, Virginia and Florida before retiring from the healthcare field in 2015.

She enjoyed gardening and watching all her beautiful flowers grow. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, and knitting. She was known for her knitting talent and ran her own business Frog Alley Fashions for several years selling custom made hats and sweaters. She enjoyed antiquing and was always ready to stop at a yard sale. She had many fond memories of road trips with friends in the big red truck. Kathy always cherished the times she spent with family and friends. She loved decorating and passing on her holiday traditions. She enjoyed playing blackjack, casino trips, football and cheering for the Buffalo Bills.

Kathy is survived by her five children, Daniel S. Auer, Jr. and wife Lauri Auer of Keene Valley, NY; Sean M. Auer of Charlotte, NC; Scott P. Auer of Polk City, FL; Penny L. Whitney and fiancé Todd Smedley of Bentonville, VA; Amanda E. Batres and husband Juan Batres of Charlotte, NC; four grandchildren, Patricia Auer, Karolyn Auer, Victoria Batres, Jay Batres and one great grandchild Emelia Boyer and her nephew, John Dann III. Kathy was a ‘mom’ and ‘grammy’ to many others that were close to her over the years.

A private memorial service and celebration of life will be held this summer in Keene Valley, NY.
