Kathy Darlene Scercy

Kathy Darlene (Mitchell) Scercy, a beloved wife, mother, stepmother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2025, at the age of 72. Born on September 28, 1952, in Charlotte, North Carolina, Kathy embraced life with open arms and a heart full of kindness.

Throughout her life, Kathy was known for her warm and welcoming personality. She never met a stranger and loved all people, drawing friends and family together in harmonious gatherings. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her immediate family, as she devoted herself to creating memories that would last a lifetime.

Kathy shared a deep bond with her husband, Dennis B. Scercy. Together, they celebrated joy and faced challenges with unwavering love and unity. Kathy is survived by her devoted daughters, Michelle Russell of Anderson, SC, and Renee Wood of Mooresville, NC, along with her stepchildren, Angela Cherie Frasier of Denver, NC, and David Scercy of Mooresville, NC. Proudly embracing her role as a grandmother, Kathy cherished her eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life.

Her hobbies reflected her vibrant personality; she found peace in nature, enjoying camping, swimming, and spending time near water. At home, she was often spotted feeding the deer in her backyard every morning, relishing the simple pleasures of life. A dedicated doll collector, Kathy also found joy in attending yard sales, discovering treasures that delighted her. Her love for music resonated throughout her home, where she enjoyed long baths accompanied by loud melodies and always donned her favorite scented perfumes.

Kathy's legacy of love will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, E.C. Mitchell; her mother, Faye Garris Mitchell; her son, Scott Wood; and her siblings, Sandra and Bobby Mitchell. Though she has departed from this world, the warmth and compassion she shared will forever be cherished.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 PM, all taking place at Raymer - Kepner in Huntersville, North Carolina. Interment will follow the services at Northlake Memorial Gardens-Huntersville. 

Kathy Darlene Scercy will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire and uplift those she touched with her boundless love and light.
