Larry Brevard Blythe, 68, a lifelong resident of Huntersville, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, April 27, 2026. He was born on April 26, 1958, in Mooresville, NC, the son of the late Harry Brevard Blythe and Agnes Ballard Blythe.
Larry graduated from North Mecklenburg High School in 1976. He then attended Lees-McRae College, graduating in 1978 with an Associate degree in Liberal Arts and was a member of Phi Theta Kappa honor society.
Larry began his career with the United States Postal Service at the Huntersville Post Office on August 9, 1980. He remained dedicated to his route for 46 years, serving his community with pride. His 850 customers became like an extended family to him. Everyone on his route knew that when Larry delivered their mail, it was done right. His coworkers remembered his contagious laugh and often said his heart was bigger than life.
Larry was deeply loved by his family. A lifelong caregiver, he selflessly cared for his elderly family members. He was known for sending cards to family and friends for birthdays and holidays, personally carrying mail to the doors of elderly and disabled customers, and performing numerous other selfless acts—always putting others before himself. He especially loved his nieces and nephews and cherished spending time with them. This generous spirit was a trait he inherited honestly, much like his mother.
Larry is survived by his brothers: Mike Blythe (Amanda), Dale Blythe (Vonda), Terry Blythe (Donna), and Brian Blythe; his nieces and nephews: Brandon Blythe, Amanda Hoyle, Chelsea Biggers, Colby Blythe, Morgan Morton, Sheldon Blythe, Grayson Blythe, Justina Phoenix, Hope Blythe, and Harrison Blythe; and seven grandnieces and grandnephews.
