Larry Harper, 63, of Concord, North Carolina passed away June 30, 2023.
Larry was born on September 26, 1959 in Baltimore, MD to Elijah Harper & Lillie Fenner. He was the only son and youngest born into a family with four sisters: Harrine, Dorothy, Darlene & Judith. Larry Harper was an amazing man with a fascinating life story. Having driven trucks for over 30+ years, he always had countless stories about his time on the road. Larry, a grandfather of ten, enjoyed his grandfather duties having his home filled with pictures of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also took pride in his other accomplishments like being a grill master and making fresh blue crabs and his signature minced barbeque. It brought Larry joy allowing him to share his culinary skills with loved ones, bringing big smiles and full bellies. Larry knew how to enjoy life to the fullest, whether it was through dancing, being the life of the party, or listening to reggae music and the Temptations. He was an extremely lucky man with a great sense of humor. Never taking life too seriously you could catch Larry on any given Sunday relaxing on the couch watching his favorite team, the Baltimore Ravens.
Larry lived a simple yet fulfilling life, his preference for medium steaks and runny eggs, showed how he appreciated the little things. He stayed informed with his interest in watching the news and being your local weatherman, always letting you know when there were any sort of weather difficulties going on. All while wearing his signature sandals and Kangol hat, along with his million and one body oils, not only did Larry smell good he made sure he looked good and felt good. Larry Harper's story is a reminder of the joy that can be found in the small everyday moments and shows the importance of family and personal passions.
Larry will be missed tremendously by those that loved and adored him.
He is survived by his daughters, Schekeyia Matthews (NC) and Lakeyia Harper (MD); son, Joseph Kingsberry (NC); sisters, Harrine Dunston (WA), Darlene Brinson (NC), and Judith A. (MD); 11 grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews and friends. Along with his parents, Larry is preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Oliver (FL).
