Lisa Ann Thornburg, born on October 5, 1962, in Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2025, in Winston Salem, North Carolina. She was a beloved sister, and her gentle spirit left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Lisa graduated from high school in Special Education classes, overcoming numerous challenges with a strength that showcased her resilience. Throughout her life, she faced physical and mental disabilities, and later in life became confined to a wheelchair. However, these adversities were eclipsed by her unwavering love for her family and the joy she found in music.
Lisa particularly loved Christian and Country music, often dancing with delight as she immersed herself in the sounds that uplifted her spirit. Her enthusiasm for life was also expressed through her hobbies; she enjoyed cross-stitching and, in later years, found peace in coloring.
Lisa is survived by her devoted brother, Ron Thornburg, who cherished their bond and the memories they created together. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, James Withers Thornburg and Barbara Nance Thornburg, who were undoubtedly proud of their daughter’s strength and spirit.
Family and friends are invited to honor the life of Lisa Ann Thornburg at Raymer - Kepner in Huntersville, North Carolina. A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM, officiated by Rev. Sheldon Davis. Interment at Mt. Zion Church Cemetery - Cornelius, will immediately follow the services.
Lisa's legacy of love for her family will forever be remembered and cherished by those she leaves behind.
Memorial donations, in Lisa's name, may be made to a local Hospice organization.
